The American Cycle Podcast, Episode 1 - The Founding Era

Following the terrorist attack on the Capitol on January 6, I sat down with Luna Ly to record a podcast discussing my theory of the American Cycle to help explain the chaos we witnessed that day.

(You can also listen to all of our podcasts on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Simplecast.)

The American Cycle is America’s tragic attempt to balance the inhumanity of ethnocide with the humanity of democracy and it consists of four stages — Founding, Abolition, Reconstruction, and Redemption. The last stage of the cycle, Redemption, is not as uplifting as the name would lead you to believe, and its goal is to bring America back to the first stage, Founding.

America has already gone through the cycle once before and now we are experiencing the second iteration. For America to be the fair, just, and equitable society that we need, we must to break the American Cycle.

We hope you enjoy the first installment of this four part series. Next Wednesday, we will send you part 2: Abolition.

Also, today, February, 3 at 3pm EST, I am speaking on the panel “When Race and the Environment Collide: The Impact of Systemic Racism on Environmental Justice” at the American Bar Association. The event is free and you can register here.
